George Wendt
He was an actor who rose to fame for his role as Norm Peterson, the bar regular on the hit television sitcom Cheers. Known for his love of beer and witty one-liners upon entering the bar, this character earned him six consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, from 1984 to 1989. Wendt appeared in all 275 episodes of Cheers, which aired from 1982 to 1993, and his character became one of the most beloved and recognizable on television. Before Cheers, Wendt was part of the prestigious improv troupe The Second City in Chicago. Although Norm Peterson was his most iconic role, Wendt also had a diverse career in film and theater. He appeared in films such as Dreamscape, Fletch, and Spice World, and had guest roles on television series such as M*A*S*H, Seinfeld, and Saturday Night Live, where he played a Chicago Bears superfan. On stage, he starred in Broadway productions such as Art, and wowed audiences portraying Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and Santa Claus in the musical Elf.
